It was smiles and cheers all round on Thursday 1 November 2018 when the team from the Shire Hall’s Information Centre were in attendance at the annual Cornwall Tourism Awards, nominated in the category for Best Tourist Information Centre.
With over 400 representatives from the tourism industry present, the glittering ceremony was held for the first time at Truro Cathedral.
The team were thrilled when it was announced that the Shire Hall Information Centre was to be awarded the Gold prize, ahead of Newquay and the Isles of Scilly offices.
Chairman of the Town Council’s Promotions Committee, Councillor Pete Skea was delighted to hear the news saying that “The team well deserve their gold award”.
The Tourist Information Centre wasn’t the only Bodmin winner that night. Bodmin Jail scooped the Silver award for Best Small Visitor Attraction in Cornwall.
Information Officer, Wendy Wright said of the awards “it’s great to see Bodmin being put firmly on the tourism map with recognition of the quality of both Bodmin Jail and the Information Centre”.
The Shire Hall Information Centre will now go on to be considered for an award at the regional South West Awards, the results of which to be announced in February 2019.
